58th Floor by Anderson .Paak and Cordae: The Song Behind the AI Trend
Where the 58th Floor trend comes from, from the Heavy Is The Crown album to the teal COLORS session and the TikTok sound, and how the AI version recreates it from two photos.
If your feed has filled up with pairs of friends, couples and even dogs rapping at one hanging microphone in a turquoise room, you have met the 58th Floor trend. Here is where it comes from, what the clip actually is, and why the AI versions took off so fast.

The song: "58th Floor"
"58th Floor" is a track by Anderson .Paak and Cordae. It opens Heavy Is The Crown, the joint album the two released on October 23, 2026; the official visualizer went up on Anderson .Paak's YouTube channel the same day. The two trade lines back and forth, and the lyrics are explicit. WhoSampled lists a sample of The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Warning".
The title is just the song's name. It has nothing to do with skyscrapers, penthouses or a high-rise view, which is why AI tools that read "58th floor" literally hand you a city skyline instead of the trend.
The COLORS session
On October 30, 2026, COLORS posted the pair performing the song on its channel. COLORS is the Berlin music platform known for minimalist sessions: one artist, one solid colour, one mic. For "58th Floor" the room is a seamless teal, with a single vintage microphone hanging between the two on a long cable.
COLORS describes the session as the pair exploring "the finer points of friendship", and the staging plays it that way: Anderson .Paak in a flat cap and sunglasses closes the hook, then Cordae turns in and takes the verse, rapping right at him.
The TikTok clip that started it
The same day, COLORS posted a vertical cut on TikTok. Its audio, listed as "original sound - COLORS", is the sound the trend uses. By November 4 the post had passed 790,000 views and 130,000 likes.
The part everyone recreates is a 15-second stretch starting at 0:26.8 of that sound, the handoff from the hook to the verse. It has four shots:
| Time in the clip | Shot | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 0:00–0:05.5 | Two-shot | The left performer finishes the hook to camera; the right one listens and turns in |
| 0:05.5–0:08.7 | Close-up | The right performer takes the verse, the mic at the edge of the frame |
| 0:08.7–0:11.5 | Wide | Both head to toe on the teal stage |
| 0:11.5–0:15 | Face-off | The right performer raps straight at the left one, who nods along |
Why it became an AI trend
The clip has everything a duo trend needs: two clear roles, a recognisable room, and a moment, the handoff, that works for any pair. Best friends, siblings, couples, a parent and their grown-up kid, two co-hosts. Filming it for real takes a teal backdrop, a hanging mic, a tripod and both people in the same place. Doing it with AI takes two photos.
Within days of the COLORS post, people were putting themselves and a friend at the mic, and then their pets. The 58th Floor trend timeline tracks it day by day, with sources.
How the AI version works
A 58th Floor AI video is the trend clip with new people in it. On 58th Floor AI, the video model is given the 15-second clip and your two photos, and told which photo replaces which performer. It keeps the room, the camera moves, the cuts and the original sound, and it gives each person the face, hair and outfit from their own photo, not the original performers' cap, chain or sunglasses.
The left photo finishes the hook; the right photo gets the verse and the close-up. The result is a 15-second vertical MP4, ready for TikTok, Reels or Shorts. The step-by-step guide covers which photos work best and how to fix a face that comes out wrong.
58th Floor AI is an independent fan tool. It is not affiliated with COLORS, Anderson .Paak, Cordae or their labels.
